Ding, Submit, Wait
So its official now - a Ding from HBS. I think I submitted a compelling application, so am a tad disappointed to not get an invite. However, I will choose to place my trust in the ‘Everything happens for a reason’ school of thought and will move on. Disclaimer: the ‘reason’ needn’t be a happy one :)
Just submitted my MIT Sloan application. I love the school, maybe equal to Tuck, so I do hope this application materialises into something. Wharton has started sending interview invites and unfortunately I didn’t receive one yesterday. What I do know is that the interviews in Delhi are on 9th November. Taking a 2 week safety net, I should hear from Wharton by end of this week, or latest by end of next week. Else, I’ll consider myself a goner there.
I officially mark my Round 1 complete. 5 apps in, 1 ding already out and status on 4 is awaited. Plan for R2? Not too sure. Cornell should figure - it has a good focus on what I envision as my long term career. Booth for sure, one out of Yale/Ross/Darden/UCLA - tough choice. On the other hand, if I get into one of the schools applied to in R1, I will apply to Stanford in R2 and give it a shot. Sincerely hope its plan B
In other news, I just returned from our annual offsite. It was in Goa, which ironically I visited for the first time in my life - probably one of the only Indians who hadn’t done that. I recommend a visit to Goa, particularly the beautiful resorts. We stayed at the Park Hyatt and I must say it is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. I was also caught off surprise when I was told that I am being promoted to Consultant! I am now the youngest ever and first non MBA Consultant in the India office’s history, a feat I repeated from my last designation of Associate Consultant. What’s more endearing is that the promotion came only 10 months after I became Associate Consultant - talk about meritocracy!
My respect for my boss, and also my firm, has really gone up though. Its well known that I am applying, in fact she is writing my recommendations. And she did that last year as well. Still she’s recommending me and allowing me to choose what I deem best. She has told me that she’d love to retain me as I have a long term expedited career at the firm, and boy, is she trying!
Anyways, I’ll sign off now and hopefully my next update should bring positive news. Cheers!
